Brayan Andrey

 

Brayan Andrey joined the University of Neuchâtel as a doctoral assistant in English linguistics in August 2020. He is currently working on his research proposal under the supervision of Prof. Martin Hilpert.

Brayan earned his master’s degree in English Linguistics, Psychology, and Public Discourse and Communication Analysis at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2020. After a yearlong internship in teaching in the United States, he wrote his master’s thesis on attitudes toward African American English in the courtroom. He carried out an experimental study of the influence of accent bias and racial bias on White American mock jurors’ legal decision-making. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

His research interests include: experimental sociolinguistics; language attitudes, stereotyping, and discrimination; language and social cognition; cognitive linguistics; psycholinguistics and bilingualism; neurolinguistics and language recovery; forensic linguistics. He is also a fan of music and acting.
