Anita Manatschal

Since June 2016, I am Assistant Professor in Migration Policy Analysis at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies, and project leader in the NCCR on the move.

Research

My research scrutinizes phenomena related to migration and mobility from a political science perspective. I am interested in how the political context in general, and migration policies in particular, influence immigrants, and, vice versa, how immigrants’ political engagement affects contemporary democracies. Currently ongoing research projects focus on the following topics:

  • Migration policies (e.g. integration, immigration, asylum etc.) at different levels of government, as well as their drivers and effects
  • Immigrant political behavior and attitudes
  • Integration
  • Drivers and outcomes of xenophobia
