Anita Manatschal
Since August 2022, I am full Professor in Migration Policy Analysis at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies, where I also serve as Deputy Director (since September 2019). As project leader in the NCCR on the move and in the Weave project EU-society, I am involved in different research projects in Switzerland, Europe and North America.
Research
My research scrutinizes phenomena related to migration and mobility from a political science perspective. I am interested in how the political context in general, and migration policies in particular, influence immigrants, and, vice versa, how immigrants’ presence and political engagement affects contemporary democracies. Currently ongoing research projects focus on the following topics:
- Migration policies (e.g. integration, immigration, asylum etc.) at different levels of government, as well as their drivers and effects
- Immigrant political behavior and attitudes
- Integration
- Drivers and outcomes of xenophobia
- Bureaucratic discrimination
