Twinkle Nengneikim Singson

Twinkle Nengneikim Singson is a doctoral student from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India.

Her doctoral thesis, titled "The Exile Gaze: Hermann Goetz's Engagement with Modern Indian Art (1936-1955)," investigates the influence of the German exiled art historian Dr. Hermann Goetz on the development of modern Indian art history. Her research attempts to provide new insights into the intersection of Indian art and Western influence, focusing on intercultural exchanges through European exiles in India during the first half of the 20th century.

As a recipient of the prestigious Swiss Excellence Scholarship (2024-2-25), she is currently a visiting researcher at the Institut d'histoire de l'art et de muséologie, University of Neuchâtel. She was also awarded the Junior Research Fellowship by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2022, a highly promising award for budding researchers in India. In 2023, she received the Erasmus+ scholarship, enabling her to conduct part of her research project as a visiting scholar at the University of Konstanz in Germany.
 

She taught German language and cultural history at various institutes, such as the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi and JNU. Additionally, she was the co-instructor of the History of German Literature at the undergraduate level for one academic year at the Centre for German Studies in JNU, India. Her interdisciplinary background in art history and literature allows her to engage with diverse cross-cultural studies.
