Eelco Fiole

Biography

Eelco Fiole is co-founder (2015) and the managing partner of Alpha Governance Partners (AGP). AGP has partners across Europe, North America and Asia and provides risk-focused and conflict-free professional board directors to finance entities globally. He is also honorary professor (professeur titulaire) finance ethics (2024) at the University of Neuchâtel (2024). His research interests lie in the field of concepts of governance, fiduciary duties, justice and ontology, applied to finance. Professor Fiole published a book on corporate governance in financial institutions and has various professional publications.

With almost three decades in finance, Dr Fiole is a risk governance expert active in innovative, complex investments, sustainability, blockchain and fintech. He has over 15 years of board-, COO- and CFO-experience, a.o. as CFO of the Tezos Foundation (blockchain) in Zug, with equity of USD 600 mn, COO Alternative Investments (Switzerland and USD 17 bn of global strategies) with Credit Suisse Asset Management in Zurich/New York and Group-CFO of USD 15 bn-Millennium Global Investments in London/Geneva. He gained advisory experience with a.o. PwC in Zurich and started his career as an institutional banker with ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. An IFC Nominee Director and Chair Switzerland for UHNWI-association Tiger21, Dr Fiole's governance mandates are in impact, tokenization, sustainability, private equity, and emerging markets.

Professor Fiole holds a PhD in economics (Basel) and further degrees in applied ethics (Zurich), environmental governance (Geneva), social innovation (Cambridge), blockchain technologies (Barcelona), positive leadership (Madrid), laws (London), business administration, and mechanical engineering (both Rotterdam). He holds various professional designations, including B-Corp Leader, CFA, CDir, CAIA, QRD, and FRM. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Directors in London (2021), and volunteers in various high-end bodies in the field of governance, investments, blockchain and sustainability.  Multilingual, he has visited 100+ countries and has 20+ years of substantial private exposure to China. In 2024, he was named an Exemplar by the DCRO-Institute for a career of Integrity, Innovation, Leadership, and Service and in the 2022 recipient of the Inspirational Leader Award of CFA Institute for Ethics. Professor Fiole regularly speaks on ethics, governance and risk in finance.
