Content
Photosynthesis is an essential process in plants to harness light energy and utilise it for the synthesis of biomolecules.
Sessions will be dedicated to central themes related to this subject:
- Chloroplast biogenesis must occur rapidly and is the key to the survival of the young seedling in a hostile environment. It requires the import of hundreds of different proteins. New data on the import mechanism and chloroplast ultrastructure will be presented.
- Chlorophyll biosynthesis and catabolism are intricately linked to photosynthesis and chloroplast development. New findings are constantly made and will be presented.
- Carbon metabolism is at the core of the chloroplast. We will learn how stomata control access of CO2 and how it is linked to carbon metabolic pathways.
- The mechanisms of photosynthesis and their regulation have been studied for many years, but exciting discoveries keep coming and we look forward to hearing about the very latest progress.
