Fungi-Bacteria interactions - a joint symposium with CUSO
18 June 2012
A joint symposium with CUSO Doctoral Program in Microbial sciences .
Organizers: Pilar Junier (University of Neuchâtel) and Daniel Job (University of Neuchâtel)
Objectives
To present the most recent scientific advances in the field of Fungi-Bacteria interaction.
To discuss novel methodological approaches in the field.
Content
Recent studies of the interactions between bacteria and fungi have clearly shown that they are essential for shaping the biological communities above and below Earth’s surface. However, we still know little about the nature of these interactions and their effects on nutrient/niche/habitat exploitation for each partner.
The 1-day symposium plans to bring together two leading teams in the topic to discuss advances in the area as well as to allow Swiss young scientist to discover this novel field.
Speakers
Dr Saskia Bindschedler , Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Germany
Prof. Jan Dirk van Elsas , University of Groningen, The Netherlands
Dr Lukas Y. Wick , Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Germany
