This seminar series is organised by the research groups in Evolutionary Entomology, Chemical Ecology, Evolutionary Botany, and Eco-Ethology. It will be attended by scientists, postdocs, PhD-, and master students, and it will cover a broad range of research topics (within the framework of the inviting research groups). The invited speakers (from other Swiss universities and from abroad) will present selected subjects of their current research. This seminar series offers the opportunity to hear about and discuss ongoing work in ecology, evolution and behavioural sciences, and to meet nationally and internationally known scientists.

content and pre-seminar assignment

1) You should attend at least 9 (out of 12) talks.

2) You are expected to participate actively during the discussion after the talks.

3) To document your participation, choose three talks where you asked a question during the discussion.

  • For each question, first summarize the points in the talk (or the preparatory paper) that lead you to this question, and then cite and discuss the answer given by the speaker.
  • State if you were or were not entirely happy with the answer and if there were any doubts left on this matter.
  • Provide no more than one A4 page per question.

Credit points: 1.0 credit point (Scientific)

Travel expenses: participants of the doctoral program are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train (half-fare card, and 2nd class). Please send the original tickets (no copies, except for the general abonnement) with the reimbursement form  to Dr. Christiane Bobillier.  No reimbursement for bus, taxi or car travel expenses will be paid.
