Social functions of chimpanzee vocal behaviour
My main research goal has been to understand the adaptive function of chimpanzee vocal behaviour mainly by exploring its social and ecological correlates. For my current project, I investigate audience effects on calling of the Sonso community of chimpanzees in the Budongo Forest Reserve, Uganda. I am also interested in the adaptive function of calls given in agonistic contexts and the role of vocalisations in facilitating behavioural coordination among males.
