I’m currently working on vocalizations of wild bonobos (Pan Paniscus ) and their flexible use in different environmental and social contexts. My master thesis is being supervised by Professor Klaus Zuberbühler and Post-doc Zanna Clay. This master thesis is based on behavioral and acoustic data of wild habituated bonobos that I personally collected between January 2015 and July 2015, in the study site of Lui Kotale in the Selonga National Park of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I’m focusing on the use of a specific short range vocalization called “the peep”; in particular I’m interested to analyze whether social factors, as for example the party composition, the proximity, and the party size, could affect the production of peeps in different type of feeding and non-feeding contexts.
