Jennifer Barella

Jennifer Barella (Dr.) est chargée de cours à l’Insitut de Géographie et post-doctorante sur le projet nncr-on the move “Data Politics and New Regimes of Mobility and Control During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

Elle a étudié la géographie humaine, urbaine et politique, et a des compétences en Systèmes d’Information Géographique ainsi qu’à propos de méthodes de cartographie alternative et participative (UniGe et UniL). A l’UniNe, elle a obtenu un PhD en géographie portant sur les impacts de la cartographie participative en termes d’empowerment pour le développement urbain dans un quartier informel de Khayelitsha (Ville du Cap, Afrique du Sud).
En parallèle à son engagement actuel en tant que post-doctorante, Jennifer est chargée d’enseignement à l’UniNe dans le cadre du cours “ Systèmes d'information à référence spatiale et cartographie numérique”, où elle assure la partie dédiée aux contre-cartographies, cartographies mentales, et collecte de données mobiles (sur base SIG).

Jennifer Barella (Dr.) is lecturer at the Institute de Geography and post-doctoral fellow on the nncr-on the move project "Data Politics and New Regimes of Mobility and Control During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic".

She has studied urban, human and political geography, GIS and participatory mapping at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne. At the University of Neuchâtel, she has obtained a PhD in geography tackling participatory mapping and GIS implementation for urban development and advocacy projects in Khayelitsha (Cape Town, South Africa). Parallel to her contribution to the NCCR Data-Politics project, Jennifer teaches introductory methods to GIS-based data collection, mental maps and critical cartography approaches at the same institution.
