With more than 400 students, with about 120 full-time, the Institute of French Language and Culture (ILCF) of the University of Neuchâtel, is, since 1892, a centre for specialised studies in the teaching of French to non-native speakers (FLE). It provides the following courses:
- a training in French language, literature and cultural studies for a year full-time (Certificat)
- a specialised training for FLE teachers-to-be for two years full-time (Diplôme)
- part of a Bachelor of Arts curriculum (BA) at the Faculty of Arts
- part of a Master of Arts curriculum (MA) at the Faculty of Arts
- remedial French courses to non-French-speaking students of the various faculties (students from UniNE, HE-ARC and HEM; scientific employee of UniNE and CSEM)
- a summer course, one month in july
- an immersion course (Swiss Mobility, Erasmus and HE-ARC students)
- specialized courses on demand
- course "French for everybody" of the Faculty of Arts
