Research interests
My research focuses on sleep and circadian rhythms in primates. I am currently exploring inter-individual variations of sleeping behaviour in wild chimpanzees, how individual and social factors interact in this context, and how this influence on survival, reproductive success and cognitive performances. My work is part of a larger framework, aiming at addressing questions about the evolutionary origins and biological function of sleep, but also at advancing theories of human cognitive and behavioural evolution.
