Research thesis (12 ECTS)

As a student of the Bachelor in Economics and Business, you have the possibility to write a thesis. This research work is carried out under the supervision of a professor.

Once the thesis has been graded, you will be awarded 12 ECTS as part of your elective credits.

Formalities

Student

  1. Contact a professor to agree on the research topic and the content of the thesis.
  2. Fill in the Internship/Research application form, have it signed by your supervising professor and give it to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
  3. Register in IS-Academia, tab "Cours"  (Mémoire) for the session in which you wish to have your credits validated.
  4. Turn in the final version of your research thesis, using the Cover page, as well as the Pledge of honour to your supervising professor.

Supervising professor

  1. Complete the Formulaire de validation et évaluation and give it directly to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Internship report (6 or 12 ECTS)

Doing an internship means acquiring additional skills to your theoretical and methodological knowledge and taking a first step into the world of work.

Whatever your academic background, it is recommended to do an internship to enhance the value of your training.

Internship characteristics

It is up to each student to approach potential employers. The placement must be in line with the theory acquired and the position offered by the company.

The internship can be completed:

  • 4 weeks full-time, or the equivalent pro rata temporis (6 ECTS) or
  • 8 weeks full-time, or the equivalent pro rata temporis (12 ECTS). The internship may be divided into two 4-week periods and must be carried out in the same company.
  • in Switzerland or abroad.

The internship is supervised by a company tutor and an FSE professor.

Formalities

Student

  1. Find an internship.
  2. Contact a professor to agree on the research topic and the content of the report.
  3. Fill in the Internship/Research application form and give it to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business (at the latest two weeks before the beginning of the internship).
  4. Have the Internship and confidentiality agreement signed by the company, yourself and the supervising professor and give it to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business (at the latest on the first day of the beginning of the internship).
  5. Once the internship is finished, ask the company to fill in the Internship certificate and give it to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business (at the latest two weeks after the end of the internship).
  6. Register in IS-Academia, tab "Cours" (Mémoire) for the session in which you wish to have your credits validated.
  7. Hand in one copy of the internship report, using the Cover page, as well as the Pledge of honour to the supervising professor within a deadline set by her/him.

Supervising professor

  1. Complete the Formulaire de validation et évaluation and send it to the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Company tutor

  1. Complete the Evaluation du stage and send it to the supervising professor.
