Scientific background and interests: Sandra is a senior development professional with over 20 years’ experience in program design, management and implementation across humanitarian and development sectors including democracy and governance, education, civil society, gender, youth, and disability inclusion and sustainable livelihoods. Her experience in designing and effecting development programs has involved working directly with civil societies and government organisations in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Sandra has a PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia specialising in Postcolonial and Gender Studies and has held academic research and teaching positions in New Zealand, Australia, Iraq, and Morocco. Her approach to learning is based on participation, knowledge sharing, problem solving, and local ownership of knowledge production.
Sandra joined CABI in 2023 as the Gender Manager working across all offices and regions serviced by CABI. Her role involves supporting Gender and Social inclusion across CABI to support inclusive programming and knowledge production.
