Scanning electronic microcospy (SEM)

3-5 May 2010 (session 1) or 4-6 October 2010 (session 2)

Prepare your own biological material  (insects, plants, fungi, etc.) for observation and learn how to manipulate the scanning electronic microscope (SEM). The aim is also to provide pictures of the brought organism in order to document your own research.

Laboratory of Animal Physiology, University of Neuchâtel:
Michèle Vlimant (michele.vlimant@unine.ch)
Charles Chappuis (Ph.D. student charles.chappuis@unine.ch): May session
Sébastien Kessler (Ph.D. student sebastien.kessler@unine.ch): October session

1st day: Preparation of samples (fixation, desiccation, mounting, metallization)
2nd and 3rd day: Continuation of preparation (if needed) and observation of preparations with the SEM at the CSEM (2 hours/each participant)
