This course is aimed at learners who need an FCE qualification as proof of their proficiency level in an academic or professional context. Further information about the Cambridge ESOL exams can be found on http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/

There are no special entry requirements. The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is around B1. If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page enseignement

The course will allow students to:

  • familiarize themselves with the format of the FCE exam
  • master key skills assessed in the Speaking test, including talking about past, present and future, making comparisons, expressing and justifying opinions, speculating, negotiating and reaching a decision
  • recognize the format of the different FCE writing tasks
  • write an essay, putting forward a coherent argument on a given topic
  • use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures tested at intermediate level

Each lesson will provide practice based on the different sections of the FCE test (Reading and Use of English, Listening, Speaking and Writing). Students will work individually, in pairs or take part in whole-class activities.

Students will be required to write one FCE-type essay and take one end-of-semester test.
