Summary

The CAS in Arbitration is an intense four-week program on international arbitration offered over the course of nine months taught in four modules of five days each. It is the first program that combines an in-depth academic program with the practical insight provided by a large number of international practitioners who lecture during the program. This sophisticated program demands from the participant in-depth preparation for each session, and active participation during the course which includes pleading training on the basis of mock cases, role plays of arbitration-related scenarios, drafting sessions to learn how to draft written submissions and interactive discussions on cutting-edge arbitration topics. This program is organized in four modules:

  • Module 1: Fundamentals of International Arbitration
  • Module 2: How to Commence Arbitration Proceedings
  • Module 3: The Taking of Evidence : Hearings and Interim Measures
  • Module 4: From the Hearing to the Challenge and Enforcement of the Award

Objectives

  • Acquire practical knowledge of how arbitration is conducted by counsel and arbitrators
  • Gain an opportunity to have personal access to a number of arbitration practitioners​

  • Other professionals interested in international dispute resolution

Admission conditions

University degree or equivalent.

Highly qualified persons who do not meet these requirements can in exceptional cases be admitted, upon providing proof of professional experience and additional qualifications in the field of arbitration.

Certification

Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration (CAS) 

Participants who successfully conclude Module 2, 3 and 4 will be awarded the Arbitration Practitioner Diploma of the Swiss Arbitration Academy. In addition, by passing a short oral exam on Module 1 and writing a paper of ca. 25 pages, a participant may qualify for the internationally accredited Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration – Joint Degree of the Universities of Lucerne and Neuchâtel. It is also possible to attend individual modules. Participants will be issued a Certificate of Attendance for each module they attend by the SAA.

The number of participants is limited. Place will be awarded upon receipt and approval by the Joint Admission Committee of an electronic application form.

CAS in Arbitration :
CHF 6'900.- (early registration fee)

ArbP Program :
CHF 4'990.- (early registration fee)

Individual Module :
CHF 1'800.-
